Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder: An Introduction to Treatment Homestudy - Student/Non-CE participant - 2 HOURS

About this course

Patients diagnosed with functional or somatic disorders often feel unsupported and misunderstood. Psychotherapy can not only provide support through a difficult journey but has also been found to reduce physical symptoms as well. This recorded intermediate webinar training will introduce ways to build rapport with these types of patients as well treat their symptoms. Evidenced based treatments and specific techniques to use in session will be shared.

  • Differentiate between different somatic symptom disorders.
  • List and describe at least three different treatment plan goals for patients with chronic physical symptoms.
  • Explain at least two different treatment modalities to address somatic concerns.

  • Danielle Mizell, PsyD

    Danielle Mizell, PsyD is a pediatric psychologist who enjoys working with children, adolescents, and young adults, providing therapy and assessments at Southeast Psych Nashville. She has received training from multiple children’s hospitals in the country including the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Cleveland Clinic Children’s. In her practice, Dr. Mizell specializes in anxiety, OCD, and chronic medical concerns. She also provides psychoeducational assessments to evaluate for ADHD and other learning disorders. She is the director of clinical training at Southeast Psych Nashville and the Assistant Director of Professional Development for ARC Health.
