Helping Clients of Color Strengthen their Emotional Wellness Homestudy --Student/Non-CE - 2 HOURS

About this course

Many CBT-based interventions focus on helping clients alleviate emotional distress and enhancing their ability to achieve valued goals (regardless of their level of distress). This training discusses how to implement CBT interventions (e.g., mindfulness, self-compassion, exposure, and behavioral activation) in ways that draw upon a client’s cultural strengths and that remain respectful of any cultural stresses, such race-based stress, they face.

Learning Objectives

  • Utilize strategies for creatively and flexibly assessing emotional impacts of cultural stressful events on clients
  • Learn how to conceptualize how these emotional impacts are interfering with a client’s overall sense of wellness
  • Learn how to implement evidence-based emotion regulation interventions in a way that is culturally-informed, strengths-based

Learning Levels

  • Intermediate

Target Audience

Mental Health Professionals, including social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and any other therapist. Educators, school counselors, teachers, and school administrators. Therapists in training, including master’s level and doctoral level students
