Navigating Telehealth Practices in Behavioral Health Homestudy - CHES professionals, Non-CE Participants and Students - 3 HOURS

About this course

This interactive, three-hour virtual workshop provides an introductory overview of telehealth for behavioral health providers. It covers legal, ethical, and practical considerations necessary for an effective telehealth practice. Participants engage in discussions, case studies, and scenario-based learning to develop foundational skills and awareness of diversity and equity in telehealth delivery. Attendees are taught practical tools and knowledge to confidently navigate telehealth in their professional practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify key legal and ethical requirements for telehealth in behavioral health practice, including HIPAA compliance, informed consent, and licensure considerations.
  • Recognize the impact of telehealth on provider-patient relationships and understand strategies for maintaining therapeutic rapport.
  • Develop practical skills for conducting telehealth sessions, including technical setup, patient onboarding, and managing crisis situations virtually. Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles into telehealth practice to address barriers and promote equitable access to care.
  • Address technology-related challenges in telehealth, such as troubleshooting connectivity issues and ensuring platform usability for diverse populations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of telehealth interventions and adapt approaches based on patient feedback and outcomes.

Course Instructor(s)

  • Ryan Landoll, PhD

    Dr. Landoll has successfully treated patients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, disruptive behavior, sleep difficulties, chronic pain, grief, and other health related conditions. He has worked extensively with both children and adults, including military families, active-duty service members, and veterans, along with individuals challenged by interpersonal, occupational, and relationship issues. He is trained in a wide range of evidenced-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy for Depression (IPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) for PTSD, and the Unified Protocol for the Treatment of Emotional Disorders in Children and Adolescents (UP-C/A). Dr. Landoll is also available for parent consultations, offering support to parents in navigating a child's developmental transitions and collaborative problem solving for healthy parenting and optimal child development.
