Understanding Gender Dysphoria: Dimensions, Diagnosis & Assessment Homestudy

CE Hours 2

About this course

This beginner workshop built clinical depth in understanding, assessing, and working with gender dysphoria across its full range of presentations. Participants developed fluency in the DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria, the critical distinctions between the DSM-5-TR and ICD-11 frameworks, and the clinical and ethical implications of formal diagnosis. The training examined five distinct types of dysphoria—physical, social and interpersonal, sexual, and existential—alongside their euphoria counterparts, equipping clinicians with concrete assessment language for each. Participants also explored comorbidity patterns, the psychologist's role within the informed consent model, and how to maintain a curious, exploratory clinical stance that served the client rather than gatekept them. All content was grounded in WPATH SOC 8 standards and current research.
